The work behind Sutai Bu started from a pair of crafty hands and a curious mind. I remember the first piece of art I fell in love creating was from my third-grade art class, where we were taught how to make our own tulip stencils and then splash paint them with a toothbrush. 

Sutai Bu was established as a platform for me to share my love for nature through the art and illustrations I create, to promote a lost Japanese cultural art that is zero waste focused, called Furoshiki, and to educate and demonstrate how to transform and upcycle excesses of personal consumption through products we use daily and love to wear around as a fashion statement. 

Being brought up by Chinese parents, I was taught to always cherish the food given to me, the present time I had on hand, the friendships I made, and to spend money wisely. Born in Los Angeles, California, growing up and going to school in Hong Kong, I would also learn and memorize these proverbs, which at the time didn’t make sense to me...
